The past couple of months we looked at some basic groove concepts. Now it’s time to strengthen our grasp on some basic fills. Each one is written with a four-measure groove loop that will help you to apply these ideas. For the best example of these fills I recommend listening to some Beatles’ songs with Ringo on drums. When you are comfortable with these rhythms try to move them around the toms. Remember the point of this exercise is to practice and build on the foundation. Try not to get carried away. The point is to play simple musical ideas and enjoy it.
